Properties: Vetiver is an excellent oil for calming and grounding. One of the reasons why is because the essential oil from Vetiver comes from the grass's roots. It's the one part of the plant that literally grows in the ground. No wonder Vetiver oil has such intense and amazing grounding properties! The aroma of Vetiver is very low and heavy, it's a strong Earth energy oil which brings us the energy of the Earth. Earth energy is grounding, nourishing, calming, unconditionally loving and accepting, it makes us feel loved comforted, and calm.
If you can get pure undiluted Vetiver oil (like Purify Skin Therapy's Vetiver oil is) it is very thick and viscous in texture, almost too thick to pour out of the bottle. It's a dark brownish reddish color. The aroma is earthy, almost musky but sweet and heavy. It brings your energy low and calm, and is deeply grounding. Some people smell moist soil, and some people think it smells similar to black strap molasses. Either way, after working with this oil for many years, I think it grows on you, and the more you smell it the more you like it.
Simply breathing in the vapor of Vetiver essential oil can be very calming, grounding, and improve focus and concentration. But because of its consistency and strong earthy aroma some people don't like this oil all by itself and found it to be more pleasing in a blend. For this purpose, I have created a blend with lovely Vetiver oil and other supporting oils for maximum effect. The blend is called the Relax Blend.
